So, you want to supercharge your blog posts with photos?

This post will show you the five simple steps and how to profit from this photo. You’ll also learn how to optimize your photos for search engines. In this blogosphere, you need a unique identity to make impact.
You cannot be like any successful blogger – in fact, don’t try to be like any entrepreneur. You can learn from someone but don’t wholly duplicate.
Setting you apart from the crowd, engaging your readers and converting sales is the ultimate blogging goal. Use this photo sharing concept to supercharge your blog posts.
1. Understand Your Blog Readers
The first step to enhancing blog posts with photos is to understand your readers. These people have choices and if you’ve an active comment session, what’s the behavior of your readers to the photos you used?
When you know your audience and what they prefer, you’ll go the extra mile to pleasing them. Your blog is not about you, it’s about those people who leave their own blogs in order to see what you’ve on yours.
They’re highly valuable and giving the right content is KEY. If your audience prefers contents alone, you could ask them if nice photo will do when next you publish a post. I’m sure the response rate will be high. Get to understand your readers – it’s the first step.
2. Consider Primary Keywords
Before writing a blog post, I’m sure you’ve some keywords you’re targeting. These should be your primary focus when deciding on the right photos for your post. If your keyword is about “social media,” then don’t use any image which relates to money making.
Align your photo to the right audience and make sure it’s relevant to the keyword you’re targeting. Often times, your keyword is what defines your photos. But there is no rule of thumb in photo selection. I’ve seen some bloggers use abstract images to wow their readers and it worked perfectly.
Nonetheless, use the right photos that relates to your keywords.
3. Source For Beautiful Photos
This is very important and I hope you take it to heart. When searching for photos to use, become obsessed with relevant and beautiful ones. These days, people actually judge a book by its cover. If your photo isn’t beautiful, no matter the quality and awesomeness of your post, you’ve obscured readers’ interest.
There are great sites to source for free and premium photos. If you’re just starting out in your blogging career and have tight budget, the free stock photos will do. As time goes by, and the money starts rolling in, get a premium photo subscription and dazzle your audience. If that’s the case, you could find viable mixbook discount code and snapfish discount coupon to save when purchasing photo sharing.
Flickr.com contains huge list of free photos for your posts. But take note of the license attributes and abide by them. You don’t want to violate copyright laws – do you?
4. Optimize Your Photos Properly
It’s not enough to select relevant and beautiful photos; you also need to optimize them properly. On-page optimization begins with the title, the alt tag and the description. It’s pretty simple once you master the act of image optimization and consistently employ it on your blog.
Blogging beginners find it really difficult to rank on Google top 10, for saturated keywords. Stop struggling to dominate search engines with the big dogs that understand the tricks and have the funds to build thousands of relevant backlinks quickly.
Optimize your image and use this strategy to suck free organic traffic from Google. Keyword Research goes beyond article writing, people also search for images and when they discover your blog via those well-optimized photos, you’ve made a mark.
5. Photo Sharing – What’s that?
What do I mean by photo sharing?
It’s pretty explanatory. Just like flickr, if you want to boost your search engine ranking, drive free traffic from authority blogs, start a photo sharing network. All you need is a page on your blog, where you can showcase quality, beautiful and relevant photos in your niche or several niches.
The concept is simple: when someone decides to use your photos; they’ll get for it free but the credit comes to you. The way we give credits to Flickr.com photos is the same way you’ll benefit from this. This link is natural, relevant and is a factor for search engine performance.
Photo Marketing Takeaway
Google spider can index your photo and send free organic traffic your way. When they do, make sure you’ve a good landing page to convert those one-time visitors to long term readers. Build strong relationships with them and sell your product. It’s as simple as that – get started in selecting and optimizing your photos. See you ahead!

Ian’s Take
I completely agree with Michael. Optimizing your photos is very important and can definitely give you an advantage over your competition. You will notice on this blog that almost every post has at least one image and there is good reason for that.
The best tip I can give when it comes to optimizing photos is; Always fill in the title, alt and description. And always link the photo back to the post it is contained within. That way if someone clicks on your photo in the search engine, they will come to your post, instead of just an image.
As Michael said though, it has to be relevant to the niche you are targeting.

I also like idea about placing photos, because they can make any blog or site more vivid and original for its users. And maybe even their number will increase, who knows? But of course, it all should be done carefully and paying attention on each detail

Hi Michael and Ian,
I am big on photos. We think in terms of pictures; a colorful, attention grabbing photo can snare your focus immediately.
As for bases I am a Flickr guy. So many good, free images begging to be used. Just link up the idea of the post with the photo, and make it clever. Obvious is OK, but something that is cute, or funny, always does well and keeps readers on your site for a longer time, which is great for SEO.
Thanks for sharing!

Good post. Also, re. no. 3 on where to find photos, there are some amazing public domain photos out there, on sites like Wikimedia Commons among others. I usually use flickr pics, but the post does look cleaner and a little more professional without cluttering it with links and attributions, so I try to use public domain where I can!
Yes, I totally agree with you. Public domain photos can be of great help, because you don’t have to give credit. It’ll make your blog clean and professional. Thank you for pointing that out.

Photos can really help in making your blog look a lot more interesting than just a plain and basic wall of text. I know some are going to agree that walls of text can be really intimidating, especially when it contains a lot of technical stuff. By the way, about the alt attribute on the img tag: some think that it’s completely for an SEO purpose. While it’s true that it can help with the SEO side of the coin, its actual purpose is to replace an image with the text specified in the alt attribute in case the image doesn’t load properly, or if your site is loaded on a text-only browser of some sort.

Which sites can I freely use photos besides flickr? Although most of the time, I can’t find a suitable picture from flickr. I end up just retrieving pictures from google images.
You’re right. Flickr sometimes doesn’t deliver the right images for blog posts. Google images are the best, but always give credit to avoid violation. Thank you

Thanks for seo tips, I always add title and alt tags to my photos in my blogger blog, but never thought to add description. Regarding photo sharing, this is something I’m trying to push on my latest blog, I’m basically trying to encourage people to use my photos in return for a link.
I’ve only just started the blog so it’s quite limited but could be useful for bloggers looking for pictures with a Thai flavor.

I think that everything wrote was actually very reasonable. However, what about this? suppose you added a little information? I ain’t saying your information is not solid, however suppose you added a post title that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean 5 Steps To Supercharge Your Blog Posts With Photo Sharing is kinda plain. You could peek at Yahoo’s home page and see how they create news headlines to grab people to click. You might add a video or a related picture or two to get people interested about everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it could make your website a little livelier.
That’s a good suggestion dear. I’ll do that next time. I shall work on my headlines henceforth and create simple, short, and helpful videos to backup my post. I appreciate your comment.

I was hoping you’d give links to photo sites. Could you include a couple next time. Except for the usual ones like Flickr coz most of the time I don’t see any suitable photos for my blog in there. Include somewhat like secret sites that few people know.
Absolutely, there are several places where you can get free beautiful photos. Search google for “beautiful public domain photos.”
Thanks for your time.

I love posting with pictures. I guess this is also a good way to raise the page rank.
Thank you for the tips!
I have often dreaded getting images for my sites, and mostly because I need free ones and they are not so easy to find if you have something very specific in mind.
Well, I learned a trick recently that has changed the process so dramatically, that I felt compelled to share it here. Basically, you can use the power of Google by searching for what you want specifically. When you have the search results, click on the advanced options on the right top side, and choose “free to use or share”.
